On 19th March, the Centre successfully held an expert validation meeting for the project of "High Energy Peak Power Industrial Femtosecond Laser".The meeting invited Prof. Ling Weijun, visiting professor of Xi'an Institute of Optical Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, head of Gansu Key Discipline of Electronic Science and Technology, head of Gansu All-Solid-State Laser Engineering Research Centre, Prof. Liu Chong, director of Institute of Optical Engineering, School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, and Yu Qinyue, national leading talent and general manager of Wenzhou Panwave Laser Co.Zhou Jianzhong, deputy director of the Centre, presided over the meeting, and the person in charge of the Institute of Advanced Lasers and Optoelectronic Devices and members of the project team attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the project leader gave a comprehensive and in-depth introduction to the general overview and technical specifications of the project "High Energy Peak Power Industrial Femtosecond Laser".High-energy, high-peak power industrial-grade femtosecond lasers are capable of realising high-energy, high-peak power, narrow pulse width and high-beam-quality laser output, and the successful research and development of this project is expected to break the domestic dependence on expensive foreign femtosecond lasers, and realise the major breakthrough of "domestic substitution".

After listening to the detailed report of the project leader, the three experts of the demonstration team carried out a warm and in-depth discussion around the project and put forward rigorous questioning.The head of the demonstration team, Prof. Ling Weijun, highly appraised the project's innovation, feasibility and scientificity in terms of technical route.He pointed out that the project is of high research value and practical significance as it precisely focuses on key issues such as thermal effect, gain narrowing, and energy multiplicity bifurcation.

After full demonstration, the experts of the demonstration group agreed that the project is closely in line with the national science and technology innovation strategy as well as the economic development needs of Zhejiang Province, which is of great strategic significance and social value for further consolidating the foundation of "415X" iconic industrial chain in the province and promoting the future industrial layout.At the same time, the experts also put forward a lot of constructive comments, suggesting that the project team to further refine the technical implementation of the programme, and through the testing of the actual application scenarios, to ensure that the project results can be successfully transformed, and effectively serve the overall situation of industrial development.

This seminar pointed out a clear direction and provided valuable guidance for the follow-up of the project "High Energy Peak Power Industrial Femtosecond Laser".The project team said that it will carefully sort out and absorb the valuable opinions of the experts, actively optimise the project plan, accelerate the R&D process, and strive to achieve the project goal as soon as possible, so as to contribute more to the vigorous development of China's laser technology.
