On December 7, 2025, the Laser Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Development Forum was successfully held in Hangzhou. This forum was jointly organized by Zhejiang University of Technology, the Zhejiang Society of Mechanical Engineering, and the Zhejiang Machinery Industry Federation. It was co-hosted by the Zhejiang University of Technology Laser Advanced Manufacturing Research Institute, the School of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang University of Technology, and the Provincial-Ministerial Jointly-Built Collaborative Innovation Center for High-End Laser Manufacturing Equipment. Concurrently, the forum convened the Second Council Meeting of the First Term of the Laser Manufacturing and Additive Manufacturing Branch of the Zhejiang Society of Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Fourth Committee Meeting of the First Term of the Laser Processing Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Machinery Industry Federation.
Xie Ping, President of the Zhejiang Provincial Machinery Industry Federation, attended the forum. Vice President and Secretary-General Zhao Qun and Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Society of Mechanical Engineering, Ying Fuqiang, delivered speeches respectively. The forum was chaired by Yao Zhehe, Deputy Secretary-General of the Laser Manufacturing and Additive Manufacturing Branch of the Zhejiang Society of Mechanical Engineering and Specially Appointed Vice Dean of the Research Institute at Zhejiang University of Technology.

Director Wu Rangda was invited to attend the forum and delivered a keynote speech titled “Exploration and Practice of Deep Integration Between Laser Innovation Platforms and Industry.” Drawing on the latest trends in laser manufacturing and additive manufacturing, Wu shared insights based on the center's practical development experience. He highlighted breakthrough innovations in laser advanced manufacturing technologies and progress in achieving self-reliance in core equipment. The presentation detailed the center's latest R&D advancements in core technologies such as intelligent laser cutting, precision welding, and additive manufacturing, along with successful industrial applications in key sectors including new energy, aerospace, and high-end equipment.
Meanwhile, the report analyzes key technical challenges in the laser field, including R&D of high-end equipment, material compatibility, and process optimization, proposing an integrated development approach of “technical breakthroughs - technology transfer - industrial empowerment.” The report emphasizes that the innovative development of laser advanced manufacturing technologies hinges on deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. The center will continue leveraging its platform's resource integration strengths to collaborate with upstream and downstream enterprises, universities, and research institutions. It will focus on tackling key core technologies, drive the transformation of research outcomes, and support industrial upgrading.
