On 19th December, Rangda WU, Director of the Centre, was invited by Mr. Ko Okada, Professor of Okayama University and Chairman of the Symposium, to participate in the 112th Symposium on Advanced Processing Technology at the Okayama International Exchange Centre in Japan. More than 50 representatives from universities, research institutes and enterprises in Okayama and surrounding areas attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Director Wu delivered a thematic report on ‘High Power Laser Cutting and Welding Technology and Application’. In the report, he highlighted China's outstanding research achievements in the field of high-power laser cutting technology, laser tube cutting technology, laser three-dimensional five-axis cutting technology, laser welding technology and laser automation technology and the wide application of these achievements in the industrial field, fully demonstrating the strong strength and broad prospects of China's laser technology.

Subsequently, Director Wu highlighted the current development and research direction of the Centre. He mentioned that the centre focuses on the three main directions of high-power laser intelligent manufacturing system, laser precision manufacturing equipment, high-performance lasers and optoelectronic devices, and is committed to achieving the technological breakthroughs of ‘1 to N’, and promoting the industrialisation of major basic research results. Professor Ko Okada of Okayama University expressed great interest in the work of the Innovation Centre and hoped to cooperate with the Centre in academic exchanges, R&D, personnel training and transformation of achievements.
Director Wu's in-depth and detailed introduction of the Centre was highly concerned and warmly discussed by the participating experts and entrepreneurs. Looking into the future, the Centre will shoulder the glorious mission of undertaking key national strategic tasks and strive to become a world-advanced high-energy technological innovation platform for laser intelligent equipment.
